It's Sunday morning. The kids and spouse are sitting at breakfast. I'm standing with my hands wrapped around a hot mug, indescribably thankful for a day with no lunches to pack, clothes to force onto reluctant small bodies, or late deadlines to rush to make up. Ms. 4 suddenly pipes up, somewhat critically: "Mommy, you don't look very busy."

Later in the day, she explains loudly and cheerily from the next room: "Mommy? I sneezed? And some of my nose goop fell on my flip-flop? And got between my toes? So I'm trying to wipe it off right now."

At bedtime I smooth her flushed face and asked worriedly: "Honey, do you have a headache?" She leans against me soothingly. "No, Mommy. My head just hurts, that's all."

And currently we're having a REAL struggle learning that it's 'marbles', not 'narbles'.
Although I must admit, I can't keep a straight face when she's talking about 'narbles'...
Have to have a sense of humor about it all, else we mothers would never survive.
Oh, great...now I've got nose goop/toe jam visual imagery to compete with the surge of joy I felt when I saw bln had commented! Which is cruel, but highly amusing.
I imagine you meant for me to be laughing big belly laughs right now. The nose goop dialog put me over the edge. What a kick these four year olds are. I'm sorry she isn't feeling well. I hope her "head hurt" is gone by now.
4 is a wonderful age... I wish I'd had a xanga with which to record all what my kids said at that age.
