  • For All Those With Back-to-Work Blues

Ms. 4 and Ms. 7 are playing house in my parents' livingroom, part of a
circular arrangement of floorspace.  Ms. 4 is the
stay-at-home partner, engaged in something with scissors and
paper.  Ms. 7 is energetically preparing to leave for work on Ms.
4's tricycle.  Having attached a lunch box to her vehicle, she
mounts it like a scooter with one foot on the step and the trailing leg
pushing.  Zipping through the kitchen and into the den, she
screeches to a halt.  Rapid-fire, in a sing-song monotone, she
    explains the situation.

    Okay, at work.

    Work, work, work.

    Eat lunch.

    Yum, yum, yum.

    Get paid.

    Done!

    Remounting, she careens off.

  • Now we just need to add public transportation!

  • lunch hour. [or, in my case, lunch half-hour]
ms. 7 has her priorities straight.

and now?  it's time for ME to get ready to go to work.
ergh.  at least it's a short week, eh?

  • That about sums it up.

  • good to get that work ethic started early.

  • I was going to say exactly what waiting for epiphany said.  Monotone is all we can manage somedays, isn't it?

  • Okay, so you have a tricycle IN the house?   Your kids crack me right up!

  • from the mouths of babes...

  • Oh I WISH work was that easy. And that lunch was that good.

  • LOLOL at Ms 7 - she has life sussed!

RYC, I'm sure you're right, and undoubtedly better informed than me; the issues are more complex than just the politics/corruption/trade/justice etc I'd listed, and post-colonialism etc plays a huge role, and change has to come from inside, can't be imposed from outside - but it can be encouraged from outside. And I don't think its right that someone as privileged as me should sit on my bum and say "oh dear, what can I do?" So, I do the bit I can.

  • she has a great understanding.........no?!!!!      lol

  • I wish my job was like that! I really love what I do, but I have to admit that I am getting very weary of working!

  • This brought a smile.  Thank you, it was a welcome smile -- in light of what this day and week have been like.  See my blog if you're curious.

  • Weary of working.. I've been there...now I'm weary of NOT working....

I love how kids bring a whole new perspective to things.

  • If only.... :sigh:
