  • How Did I....

    ....the
PE Class Dunce, the one who tied for last place in the 600 yard dash,
the one they always teased about being unable to hit a wiffle ball at
three yards, the one whose basketball got away and stuck under the
bleachers, whose one-piece gym costume faded to
algae-pale-sick-green, who threw the bowling ball
backwards (nearly neutering the kid behind), who couldn't turn a cartwheel, who fell
off the low beam, failed the stair test, tripped on the bat....

....end up a Happy Double Soccer Mom?

I dunno, but I think I like it.

  • I think it started when ya gave birth.

  • You'd probably make a great coach, to boot.

    Bad pun partially intended.

  • Wow, they are growing like crazy.

  • Good grief, look at the oldest--she's turning into quite the beautiful young lady, isn't she?  Not that she wasn't cute before, but she's definitely growing more pretty by the day.  Soccer mamas are hot.  Soccer moms are not.  And you are definitely a hot soccer mama.

  • Half their genes came from their dad.  What's HIS history?  Anyway, I'm happy for you.  Enjoy!

  • Oh goodness, how sweet they look!   I hope mine got some good athletic genes.  I don't have much in that regard either.

  • One of the greatest joys of child-rearing is that the little dears force us to expand our horizons.

  • Twoberry's comment is very apt -- nope, Dad was just as much the PE outcast as me. Except I think he probably was a bit less clumsy with the wiffle ball. Otherwise -- it's all something completely ex-familial (either that or the husband and I didn't exploit ourselves to our fullest -- probably the better explanation ).

  • You know, coaching soccer was a GREAT joy to me when my kids were (a lot) younger. I wish I felt as successful as a father as I did coaching soccer...
Despite your tales of sights gags and physical humor, I'm sure your mind was absolutely as limber as they come in the days of your youth - which is what sped you on the way to your present state of fabulousness. And those lovely daughters of yours have the gift of both that and your soccer-momdom.

  • What you do for your kids, eh!?

  • From a soccer dad, coach, ref, etc. it can be priceless . . . sometimes

  • I'm glad you're enjoying it. It seems that life is one big ball of ironies sometimes. Fur-instunce; God played a big joke on me when he made my daughter love country music! HA, HA, real funny, BIG GUY!

  • Your last statement really sent me off on a whole 'nother blog idea...

  • LOL! Your kids are so cute. I wonder exactly the opposite to you - how did I, a rock climbing, hill walking, canoeing, outdoors teen, produce a child who won't even come out into the garden and runs like a stunted penguin?

  • Wow, they're beautiful kids!!!  I don't know if I'll ever be a soccer mom, but IG certainly appears to have all the strength of a sports player-to-be of some kind!

  • you will have a blast! girls soccer is the BEST!

  • You are a better woman than I am.  I have never had any interest in sports.  My son played a sport each season of the year, and we supported him, but I always figured that that was his activity.

  • Your kids are beautiful!  Soccer moms rock...and I know because I have been one for years now...by the end of the season all those kids are like my own LOL..I could say I get to take only mine home but the rest follow and stay too...the joys of being a mom!
